“I have always felt called to this work. Representing families after tragedy strikes and taking on billion-dollar companies is an immense responsibility. I take that responsibility seriously and cherish the opportunity to tell my clients’ stories to judges and juries nationwide.”
I was born in Oxford, Mississippi, and grew up in the Texas Panhandle. My Mom was a professor; my Dad is a trial lawyer. From the very beginning my parents showed me that grit, focus, and dedication are the keys to success—there are no shortcuts.
After graduating with honors from Texas A&M, I moved to Washington, D.C., and worked with Congressman Mac Thornberry of the 13th District of Texas. In D.C., I had the opportunity to meet a vast horizon of people. I met United States Senators, foreign dignitaries, admirals, Special Forces operators, lobbyists, and celebrities. I also met struggling constituents seeking help from their government. My time in D.C. refined my personal beliefs and helped me learn how to communicate with and relate to anyone from any background.
In law school, I had the honor of competing on the Varsity Moot Court Team. I traveled extensively competing against the brightest law students in America. During my 2L year, I, along with two teammates, won a national championship at Southern Illinois University. Hard work in law school led to a federal clerkship—a coveted position that fewer than 4% of law school graduates secure each year. During my clerkship, I saw first hand the natural progression of lawsuits from the court’s perspective, and I learned to appreciate the importance of crisp and clear technical writing.
My first job as a practicing attorney was with a boutique law firm in Houston representing large corporations and hospital systems. I learned quickly that I wanted something different. After a year of working in the corporate world, I followed in my dad’s footsteps and began working on catastrophic injury cases. I tried my first jury trial in Bowie County, Texas, and helped secure a $7.2M verdict on behalf of a family who lost a loved one in an18-wheeler crash. Since then, I’ve represented thousands of injured victims in all types of cases, from offshore rig explosions, 18-wheeler crashes, airplane crashes, and birth traumas, to product liability and automotive crashworthiness cases. I remain passionate about the work I do, and steadfast in my commitment to fight for those who need it most.
The small wins energize me. For better or worse, jury trials are exceedingly rare. Onaverage, approximately 98 out of 100 cases will resolve prior to trial, either via confidential settlements, dispositive motion practice, or some other procedural mechanism. Navigating the waters of our civil justice system is neither easy nor expedient, but the small wins add up to create positive momentum. Securing key admissions during depositions, winning favorable rulings on Motions to Compel, subpoenaing information from third parties that Defendants swore did not exist, and finding inconsistencies—and occasionally outright lies—make the grueling and tedious work of civil litigation all worthwhile.
