We’re excited to kick off our new Meet the Team series, where we introduce you to the people who make our work on behalf of clients possible. At Khirallah Trial Attorneys, we take on only a select number of cases so that every client gets our full attention, and that means every member of our team plays a vital role in delivering results.
We chose to start with Rosa because she’s often the first friendly voice our clients hear and a steady hand guiding them through what can be an unfamiliar and emotional process. Her dedication and compassion set the tone for the level of care we strive to provide in every case.
What do you do at KTA?
As senior paralegal, I’m one of the first people you might talk to if you contact our firm and need help. I frequently stay in very close contact with clients as their cases wind through the system. I work closely with the attorneys and clients on many aspects of the litigation. We really get to know each other. And if a case goes to trial, I’m often in the courtroom assisting with exhibits, coordinating witnesses and experts, observing the jury during voir dire, assisting the trial lawyers with special tasks, taking notes for later use, and presenting PowerPoints and demonstrative evidence.
Additionally, I’m the firm administrator so I’m also creating and implementing procedures, creating training manuals, and training staff.
What do you enjoy about your job?
Everything! I love the client communication and seeing the progression of cases. I also like training staff to do things the way that helps me do my job better. I over-analyze everything, which I believe helps when breaking down processes and procedures so that it’s clear to new staff how and why we do the things the way we do them.
Q: The firm often represents individuals who have suffered serious injuries and who may feel like they have no one to turn to for help. How does it feel when you and the firm can help them obtain justice?
It feels great! I cherish the relationships I build with our clients and delivering a good outcome after years of waiting and talking them into being patient when they’re ready to throw in the towel, makes it all worth it.
Q: Can you describe a moment that you were proud to have been able to help make a difference in a client’s life?
I’ve been lucky to have experienced this on several occasions. Being in weeks-long trials, exhausted and sleep-deprived — blood loss from all the paper cuts, the emotions and stress eating. Then getting a multimillion-dollar or billion-dollar verdict and seeing families in disbelief and so grateful — that makes it all worth it. I’ve been in court crying with our clients and the rest of the staff after a favorable verdict has been read because we are all that invested. I love that we’re selective with our cases so that we’re able to give 100% of ourselves to our clients.
Q: How did you decide to become a paralegal?
When I was little, my parents would always tell me that I should be a lawyer as much as I like to argue. After high school, I had no idea what I wanted to study. Law school seemed a little intimidating, so I decided to try paralegal studies and loved it! It was a way of still being in the legal industry without the stress that an attorney must have when having to try a case.
Q: Describe your style or how you approach your job.
My job has always been the first priority. It comes before my personal responsibilities sometimes. When I’m at work, I don’t even like to handle personal business or take personal calls. Job first, then everything else.
Q: What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I like to work out, shop, get my nails done, get a massage, clean, or spend time with my family. I try to squeeze in at least one vacation a year, more if possible.
